Register in person (Registration form, waiver) | return to terraloco home

I counted at least five pickup soccer games that cropped up, making the route choice a bit more interesting. Nice and clear and right on the beach - a great evening fun map run. And the last, alas, for this summer, as my coaching assignment begins next week. Until next summer! There's more Urban Wild Roundups though... Labor Day and the day before Hallowe'en.

Original Announcement

How often do you get to navigate with a beach involved! Both courses will take you to the beach and beyond... the point to point course is a fun, 1.8 km chaser to the dogbones course, which has an optimal route of probably 2.8 km. With the dogbones, you have 8 legs on the map with 2 endpoints, you can do the legs in any order, and once you start a leg you have to finish it before getting the next.

Details

  • Cost is $5 per person.
  • Registration and starts open at 6:00, mass start option is 6:45, courses close 8:00, or earlier, if people are finished.
  • Gear: shorts and regular running shoes are fine.
  • Checkpoints are small flags.
  • Map from terraloco is 1:5000 scale.
  • Social option afterwards.

Directions:

Take the Webster St. tube into Alameda from downtown Oakland - highway 880 is convenient for this, and there are signs for the tunnel to Alameda when you get off the freeway exits in downtown Oakland.

Webster kind of "dead ends" into some condos at Central Ave. Turn right there, and make your first left onto McKay Ave. Take this almost to the end until you see the parking lot for Crab Cove on the left. Sometimes there's a fee, so you can park on the street if you like.
